4. Think ahead! Electrical Safety

Electricity is an amazing discovery. It can power everything, from TVs to cars to cell phones. But if you ever got an electric shock, you probably know that it can also be dangerous. Thankfully, being safe around electricity is not that difficult.

1. Try to identify dangers on the posters you were given.
  • Get a piece of poster with a letter: A, B, C or D.
  • Find someone else with the same letter as you, and identify as many issues as you can.
  • Now, leave your partner and find the three other letters that are not what you have yourself -- so, if you are A, find B, C, and D.
  • Mount your posters with tape.
  • Discuss all the answers, and see if you can find more.
  • Check the answers by clicking the link below.

Answers for poster activity.

2. Discuss the following eight images with environments / activities and think of possible dangers they present.
  • Playing soccer near an electric station.
  • What is the potential electrical hazard? Are they in immediate danger?
  • What are their options to avoid the hazards?
